Last season, Canada took part in its own version of ‘The Amazing Race’. The US version of the show has always been a hit with Canadian viewers on CTV, and the inaugural season of Canada’s own version proved the same. Millions of viewers tuned in each week to cheer on their favourite teams. Early after the first had completed, CTV had announced, that the show had been picked up for a second season.
This week, we will be introduced to all the teams competing this season. However, we won’t know all the team members until the end of the week. Each day, fans of the show will find out a couple of teams, until all our unveiled. So far, three teams out of the eleven have been announced. You read that right, this year eleven teams will compete for the bigger prize (up from nine last year). They are made up of olympic champions, lovebirds and best friends. Three more teams will be announced tomorrow (June 18), three on Thursday (June 19), and the final two pairings will be revealed on Friday (June 20). Fans can also look forward to a special Season 2 exclusive, to be revealed this Friday (June 20) at noon ET by @AmazingRaceCDA.
The biggest grand prize ever awarded for a Canadian competition series expanded this season to include “gas for life” from Petro-Canada. In addition, the winning team once again receives a $250,000 cash payout and the opportunity to fly free for a year anywhere Air Canada flies worldwide in Business Class, plus two Chevrolet Silverado High Country Edition Pickup Trucks. Teams are also competing for special pit stop prizes courtesy of Air Canada and Scotiabank, to be revealed during the broadcasts.
