Showcases hit show ‘Dexter’ has concluded but the feedback hasn’t been all too positive. In fact, many fans of the series felt that main character Dexter Morgan should have met his ultimate demise, instead of going into seclusion (spoiler alert). Fans are now finding out, there may have been a reason behind this decision.

Allegedly, execs at Showtime did not want the writers of ‘Dexter’ to kill their main character off and wanted an opening for a possible continuation of sorts in the future. Dexter producer John Goldwyn has now revealed that the writers were, in fact, prevented from killing Dexter.

“They won’t let us kill him,” Goldwyn told Vulture in a recent interview. ”Showtime was very clear about that. When we told them the arc for the last season, they just said, ‘Just to be clear, he’s going to live.’”
“There were a lot of endings discussed because it was a very interesting problem to solve, to bring it to a close,” he continued. “People have a relationship with Dexter, even if it doesn’t have the size and the ferocity of the fan base for Breaking Bad. But it has a very core loyal following.”

Do you think the writers made the right decision or should they have not let the Showtime execs to persuade their story telling? Have your say, let us know in the comment section below.
