AMC has announced that the upcoming seventh season of ‘Mad Men’ will be the shows last, with creator Matthew Weiner revealing that the show will be extended to fourteen episodes (instead of the usual ten) and, get this, won’t come to an end until 2015! No, that doesn’t mean the show will air every Sunday for almost an entire year (sorry, we had to be the ones to get all official on you).

The final season of ‘Mad Men’ will air in the Spring of 2014, with the first seven episodes. The show will take a break and return in the Spring of 2015 to air the remaining seven. You could say, the show is serving up a seven and seven. On one end, we have an extended season and that means more Don, Roger, Joan and everyone at SC&P. On the other end, some fans of the show are upset that they have to wait until the following year in order to find out how the show will wrap up.

We here at POPGoesCULTURE.com love the idea. Plus, this isn’t something that’s unfamiliar as the folks over at AMC (the show’s network) have done this with their hit show ‘Breaking Bad’. Plus, in doing so, it keeps the audience interested, generates buzz, and if the series finale is done right, will be worth the wait!

What do you think of the final season being split and airing in two different years? Let us know in the comment section below.
