It was announced today that everybody’s favourite late-night red-headed talk show host, will be hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. Talk show veteran Conan O’Brien will be hosting the annual awards show for the very first time in his career. Actor Isaiah Washington (Dr.Burke) is set to return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Fans of the show haven’t seen the actor since the third season, where he left Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) at the alter. Actor Isaiah Washington (Dr.Burke) is set to return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Fans of the show haven’t seen the actor since the third season, where he left Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) at the alter. The star was let go of his duties on the show after allegedly making homophobic remarks to then co-star T.R. Knight. Washington will return to the show this coming May, and in doing so, will be a vital part of Sandra Oh’s exit.
Creator Shonda Rhimes commented on the news, stating: ”It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should,” Rhimes said. “Burke is vital to that journey — he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”
In a unanimous vote, Anick became the first houseguest evicted from the ‘Big Brother Canada’ house during Thursday night’s first-ever live eviction episode on Slice.
As HOH this week, Paul nominated Anick and Andrew, but Andrew won the Power of Veto and took himself off the block. Paul was forced to pick a replacement and Ika found herself at risk of eviction sitting next to Anick on the chopping block. But she didn’t need to worry – Anick, a 28-year-old Reiki Master, lost out in the 11-0 vote. I guess the house guests weren’t a fan of the eccentric girl.
“I don’t think the world was ready for the love revolution,” says Anick. “My strategy was to go into the house not as myself. So I went in like an octopus and got blown out of the water.”
With the first houseguest out the door, three potential house guests moved in to the secret War Room inside the ‘Big Brother Canada’ house. Allison White, Nate Sandri, and Scott Bosse vie for votes to become the #FINALHG. Fans of the show can register at BigBrotherCanada.ca to cast votes and earn points to impact the game. Canada will find out who will be voted into the house on the next upcoming live eviction episode, next Thursday, March 13th 9PM ET on Slice!
The episode introduced us to the house guests which will be going through the crazy journey and calling the swanky house home for the next several months. This year, there was definitely no shortage of big, over the top personalities, which will make the show extremely interesting to watch. Host Arisa Cox, welcomed and introduced the house guests in groups at a time, and in true ‘Big Brother’ fashion, the contestants weren’t able to speak to each other, until they were inside the newly revamped house.
House guests which stood out for us (and we hope will make it far into the game) include the make model with a killer beard; Kenny, yoga lover and student Rachelle and of course, the spunky and off-beat Anick. The house guests didn’t have long to settle into their new digs as Arisa came on the TV in the family room and announced to the house guests that the battle for supremacy would start right away – the first HOH competition of the season was ready to begin! The competition saw all house guests standing on a block of ice. The premise was simple, the last person standing would be named first HOH. After around 30 minutes that’s when we saw people slowly/nervously remove themselves off their respected blocks due to numbness. Paul, which is the father figure in the house made a deal with the remaining competitors, telling them that if they all step off and allow him to be crowned as the first HOH, they have his word that they won’t be put on the block and no backstabbing will be done. With that, the remaining house guests collectively removed themselves off their blocks and the first HOH of the season was crowned.
Before the show was over, host Arisa Cox let us all in on the season’s first twist of the game where Canada will choose the final house guest to be brought back into the house, in a way that has never been seen or done previously in any season of ‘Big Brother’. Viewers were introduced to three new potential house guests which will be living in a secret room which no one is aware of. The three strangers will live in this room, isolated from the rest of the house. There every move can be viewed on the 24/7 live feeds.
The Secret Room houseguests are:
Allison White: tenacious tomboy from Newfoundland who works as a psychiatric nurse.
Nate Sandri: silver-tongued metal worker from British Columbia with a cool confidence.
Scott Bosse: larger than life gay rights activist from Nova Scotia with a glitzy alter-ego named ‘Contessa.’
The shocking reveal to the rest of the house as to what is happening and which candidate will be playing the game will be revealed on the special March 13th live eviction episode.
What did you think of last night’s season two premiere episode? Most importantly, who do you want to see enter the #BBCAN2 house? Make sure to cast your vote and have your say before the big reveal!

It was announced today that everybody’s favourite late-night red-headed talk show host, will be hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. Talk show veteran Conan O’Brien will be hosting the annual awards show for the very first time in his career.
The funny-man commented on the announcement today, stating: ”After eight years of intense negations, I am honoured to announce I am hosting MTV’s second most prestigious awards show”.
The MTV Movie Awards were created in lieu of all the stuffy, pretentious awards that were occurring during award season (first quarter of the year) and honour actors in categories such as “Best Fight”, “Best Villain” and “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance”.
The 2014 MTV Movie Awards will be broadcast live, 7PM ET/PT on April 13th.
Last night marked the Academy Awards, (better known to many as The Oscars). It’s a night where the film industry’s biggest stars come out to shine. The respect in the theater by their peers is massive, along with the thousands of fans in attendance and millions watching at home.
This year, saw a change-up of host, as day-time TV talk show queen, Ellen DeGeneres took over the reigns – and did she ever deliver! She didn’t need any gimmicky style opening video which placed her in the movies nominated for an Oscar. Instead, she opened the show the best way she knows how, with an opening monologue. In pure Ellen style, the monologue was clean and poked fun at celebs in the audience, which were nominated. She had fun at many people’s expense, even joking with Jennifer Lawrence who was nominated for ‘Supporting Actress’ (American Hustle). Last year at the Oscars, Lawrence was walking up the stage to accept her award, when she tripped over her dress. In true Ellen fashion she mentioned the fall, joked about it, even mentioning that Lawrence had a mishap on the red carpet arrivals, tripping that very night. She joked about how embarrassing it must have been and that she wouldn’t continue to talk about it. The punch line of the joke came when Ellen mentioned that if Lawrence won, that they would deliver the award to her in her seat. The only time where the monologue jabbed at someone or became inappropriate (depending on who you ask) was when Ellen caped off her monologue by mentioning ‘Best Picture’ film nominee “12 Years A Slave”. Ellen joked, saying:”Anything could happen tonight! So many possibilities! Possibility number one, 12 Years a Slave wins Best Picture. Possibility number two, you’re all racists. And now, please welcome our first white presenter, Anne Hathaway.” The audience laughed, and really anyone with a sense of humour, did as well.
For a three-hour long broadcast, which in shows past have been (at times) drawn out, dry and stiff, Ellen shot a dose of spunk and creativity into the show. Ellen has her finger on the pulse of pop culture, and that’s why we loved seeing her play host for the ceremony. Some hilarious moments included her asking the crowd of nominees if they were hungry and if she were to order a pizza, if they would have some. A couple of awards later in the broadcast, Ellen came out with a pizza delivery guy, serving pizza to celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Jared Leto. Mid awards, usually the presenter will shoot out some corny jokes and gear up for the next presenters. However, Ellen tool this opportunity to take the most star-studded A-list celebrity selfie in the history of selfies! The selfie saw Ellen sandwiched between Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie actually broke Twitter! Seriously, Twitter crashed due to how many retweets the now über popular pic has gotten. It’s even past Barack Obama as the most retweeted picture of all time – gaining over 2 million tweets (and still growing!).
Even though Ellen and her antics were definitely the big “winner” of the show, we loved seeing actors Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey take home an Oscar for their roles in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ – which was our favourite movie from the group nominated for ‘Best Picture’. Jared Leto won for ‘Actor in a Support Role’ and his acceptance speech was touching, humbling and kicked off the show, as it was the first award handed out. In one of the most graceful acceptance speeches, Lupita Nyong’o stole our hearts with her acceptance speech, taking home an Oscar for her role in ’12 Years a Slave’. The show saw some great musical acts as well, including Pink’s rendition of the classic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
We can’t think of a better host for the awards show and after being entertained (and not even flipping the channel throughout the entire telecast) we say, Ellen for Oscars host in 2015! Let’s make it a repeat Academy!

It was just a couple of days ago when we posted photos of the newly revamped ‘Big Brother Canada’ house, and news on the new season is coming fast and furious! Today the house guests were unveiled, which will be calling the ‘Big Brother Canada’ house home for (if they’re lucky and make it until the end) almost three months.
The inaugural season of the popular reality show saw twists and turns galore! Fans of the ‘Big Brother’ franchise were in love with the season, as it was rated one of the highest shows for Slice TV and Shaw for the entire year! Fans down south and in the UK, are huge fans, so much so, that they’re finding ways to watch all the drama unfold online. This year will be no different. The cast was unveiled today, which is made up of a hockey player, mortgage broker, and a healthy fit girl-next-door type from Alberta just to name a few. The drama has already started to unfold and the show hasn’t even debuted yet! This year, there is one house guest that hasn’t been named. Fans of the show will find out who the final house guest will be on the premiere episode, airing simultaneously on Slice and Global!
Check out the gallery below for your first look at the ‘Big Brother Canada’ Season 2 house guests! For complete house guest bios make sure to check out BigBrotherCanada.ca and get ready for the premiere episode March 5th!
‘Big Brother’ is one of TV’s most drama-filled reality shows. The united states version has been live and kicking (for what will be) over fifteen seasons. The show is extremely popular all over the world, as countries like United Kingdom. Australia, Germany and many more have adopted their own versions of the reality TV program.
Last year, Canada joined the list of countries lucky enough to have their own version of ‘Big Brother’; and it didn’t disappoint. The show was a ratings juggernaut for SLICE TV and Shaw Media, which prompted a second season, set to air March 5th. Today, via Twitter, we got our first glimpse inside the now infamous TV show house, which has seen a facelift. The kitchen has been completely revamped, along with the backyard, pool area, and washroom. Although the ‘Big Brother’ (US) house is often considered as campy, the Canadian version takes a modern style approach and pulls it off extremely well.
Check out the gallery below for your first look inside the ‘Big Brother Canada’ house. There hasn’t been a sighting of Marsha The Moose as of yet, but we hope she decides to make an appearance again this year.
The cult TV show ‘Heroes’ which debuted in 2006, is set to return to NBC in 2015 – four years after it was cancelled! The show will be named ‘Heroes Reborn’ and much like the original premise, the show will revolve around ordinary people who discover they have super powers.
It was announced this weekend the show will return, but those hoping their favourite actors/characters will return as well, may be disappointed. It was revealed the show will return with a brand new cast. No words of any possible cameos by Hayden Panettiere or Zachary Quinto, but who knows, with the right writing, that could possibly all change.
NBC’s Jennifer Salke says, “The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment.”
Check out the teaser for ‘Heroes Reborn’ below, and let us know if you’re excited to see the revamped show return to NBC.
Last night marked the dawn of a new era in the Late Night TV landscape as Jimmy Fallon officially took over as host of ‘The Tonight Show’ from long-time host; Jay Leno.
The first episode of ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’ saw Will Smith as his first guest and U2 as the first musical act. The episode also included surprise visits from some of Jimmy’s A-List celeb friends, including Tina Fey, Mike Tyson, Mariah Carey, Seth Rogen, Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro and many more! The episode opened with a touching monologue, with Jimmy explaining how the show will work and introducing himself, his band and announcer to the new viewers he will be ushering in the new 11:30PM time slot. Jimmy got choked up in a touching moment where he introduced us to his parents, which were in the live studio audience. There was even a segment with Jimmy and Will Smith entitled “Evolution of Hip Hop Dancing”, which NEEDS to be watched (watch video here). Other upcoming guests during Jimmy’s first week on air include Jerry Seinfeld, Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga just to name a few.
Last night, Jimmy and crew made television history, ushering in a new last night TV era and we couldn’t be happier. A fresh, new vibrant host that has his finger on the pulse of pop culture, is going to make for an amazing run as ‘Tonight Show’ host.
“The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” airs weeknights at 11:30PM on NBC.

Every year millions upon millions of people tune in to watch the Super Bowl. In recent years it hasn’t even been necessarily to watch the teams face off against one another, on the contrary. Year after year, the audience grows and sees the casual (hell, even the non-football fan) take in hours of NFL game play in order to watch what everyone will be talking about around the water coolers the next day – the Super Bowl commercials and half time show.
This year saw pop star Bruno Mars hit the half-time Super Bowl stage, performing a medley of his hits, including a rendition of “Give It Away” with the Red Hot Chili Peppers – who are still rocking out in their 50′s! Bruno threw it down, with his talented vocals and almost non-human like dance moves! Seriously, that boy can dance!
Enough chatting from us, check out the half-time show the world is talking about below!
The Super Bowl is watched by millions of viewers around the globe, with many casual fans not even watching for the teams or the game itself. On the other hand, they watch because the Super Bowl is such an iconic pop culture hit. Many brands/companies vie for air time to showcase their products, new TV shows, brands etc (really nothing is off-limits) and last night was a prime example of this.
A couple of weeks back, Jerry Seinfeld was spotted with Jason Alexander outside Tom’s Restaurant in New York City. For those that are unaware of the importance of the restaurant. This was the outside exterior that was used on every episode of the hit 90′s show to portray Monk’s Coffee Shop. In just a matter of minutes, rumours were swirling online as to why they two were together (and most importantly, why Jason Alexander was in his George Costanza attire).
Last night, the rumours were put to rest as those watching the Super Bowl finally found out the importance of the meeting. Turns out they were filming an episode of ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ , which is a web series which features Jerry Seinfeld and a friend from Hollywood (mostly comedians – hence the title of the show), driving around, grabbing a cup of coffee/something to eat and shooting the breeze. This episode was a ‘Seinfeld’ reunion of sorts as it featured Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza, in character as if ‘Seinfeld’ was still occurring. There was even a surprise cameo by Jerry’s arch nemesis, Newman!
The episode is a must-see for every ‘Seinfeld’ fan. Check out at here, and trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
Fans of ABC’s hit show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ have been left hanging by a thread, as the TV show regulars were unsure if they’d return to the medical drama. A couple of seasons back, there was uncertainty about the majority of the original cast returning. We let you all in how Sandra Oh (Dr.Cristina Yang) has confirmed she is officially not returning to ABC’s number one hit show (read about it here). It seems as though fans of the show have been sitting on pins and needles lately. However, recent news may change how they feel, as it has been confirmed that both Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey) and Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd) have officially inked new two-year deals. The show itself hasn’t been picked up for two more seasons. However, with both the shows original stars signing deals for the near future, abc will most likely renew the show for at least two more seasons.
Patrick Dempsey has a love for race car driving and when he’s not filming ‘Grey’s’ the actor can be found on the race track. The actor is so serious about the racing lifestyle that many close to him believed he wouldn’t renew his contract with the show and instead focus on his racing future. Ellen Pompeo on the other hand is very different. She is the mother of a beautiful baby girl, lives close to the studio where ‘Grey’s’ is filmed and has stated that she has a wonderful work/life balance and wouldn’t give it up for the world.
*Show originals Justin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev), James Pickens Jr.(Dr. Richard Webber) and Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) have yet to sign new deals.

The Grammy’s is the one night out of the year where the Kings and Queens of music, come out and celebrate their achievements, with host (for a second year in a row) actor/rapper LL Cool J.
Blue strobe lights hit a woman in the dark, on centre stage. The woman is no other than Queen Bee, Beyoncé. Beyoncé takes the stage, which came as a surprise to the live audience and the millions watching at home. This is the best Grammy opening performance I’ve seen, in the history of the Grammys- I must say. Beyoncé wore a revealing sexy number, leaving nothing to the imagination. She rocked short black shorts and a black bondage/fabric tank top as she paraded her curves over a black fold-up chair. The surprising kick-off to the show wasn’t finished yet . . . Jay-Z came in and took the stage with his wife Beyoncé on the song, “Drunk in love”, which is from her newest self titled album.
After Beyoncé performed, L.L. Cool J hit the stage by speaking about the foundation of music and what it represents. He spoke about how music has taught us how to move and that it is everything that we dream. He then spoke about how music is like a passion that drives us in our daily lives by helping us in reaching our next goal(s). As L.L. Cool J left the stage, he welcomed Anna Kendrick and Pharrell to introduce, the ‘Best New Artist’ Award. That Grammy went to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. They gave their acceptance speech and said, they were thankful for winning such an amazing award and also noted that they made their album without a record label.
After Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ acceptance speech, Lorde performed her hit song,”Royals” as she sported a white blouse and black dressy pants. This wouldn’t be the last time, we would see her during the broadcast. After Lorde, L.L. Cool J welcomed an artist-who has a true message for young people in his song. The song is,” Invisible” by Hunter Hayes. In which the message depicts, young people walking through the hallways of school-and young people in general, how they should strive higher and higher no matter what other people may think that certain individual is able to achieve. Also to not listen to others who try to get you down.
After Hunter Hayes performed his song, There were many other legendary performances. Such as Katy Perry and Juicy J, who had a dark and gothic touch to their performance. Complete with a cemetery! The two performed their hit song “Dark Horse” which is getting massive amounts of air play on radio stations across the globe.Katy Perry also performed her hit song,”Roar” to the excitement of the audience. After Katy Perry performed “Dark Horse” with Juicy J, Chicago and Robert Thicke joined together for a duet. Chicago and Robert Thicke sang,”Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” Robert Thicke opened his voice up to Chicago’s lyrics. As Robert Thicke and Chicago sang,”Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” Robert Thicke transformed the song into,”Blurred Lines”. Before the break,Pauley Perrette caught up with Taylor Swift at the Twitter Photo booth,to ask Taylor Swift,”How does it feel to be next on the Grammy stage?” Taylor Swift commented with an,’I'm so ready’ kind of attitude.
After a set of commercials, the Grammys were back with John Legend, on the piano-performing “All of Me”. After John Legend performed his amazing and soulful song,”All of Me”- Taylor Swift went on stage to perform,”All too Well”. Taylor Swift rocked it out at the piano and showed a deep emotion and fierceness on her face during the song. If you thought these amazing, performances couldn’t get better-viewers were in for a surprise n the form of P!NK! Pink performed “Give Me a Reason” with lead singer from ‘FUN’; Nate Ruess. P!NK’s acrobatics during her performance left many speechless and was an attraction in itself. Ringo from The Beatles performed,”Photograph”.
Some the high-energy performances came from Metallica and Imagine Dragons. Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar covered,”Radioactive” with an out of control-wild-all over the place strobe lights. It was also dubbed as the “Greatest performance of the night”. Metallica and Lang Lang collaborated for a legendary performance, putting a unique spin on their hit song,” One”. Lang Lang was going crazy on the piano while rocking out to James Hetfield’s guitar. A classic performance would have to belong to-Willie Nelson,Blake Shelton,Kris Kristofferson,Merle Haggard on the song,”Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Country Boys”.
A classic performance was from Paul Mc Cartney and Ringo on the song,”Cut me some slack”. Two Beatles stars in one night, sharing the Grammy stage was indeed, epic. Two of the best calming performances of the night were by Sara Bareilles and Carole King performing “Brave”. When I heard those two performing that song, I had a feeling of wanting to actually be more brave! I felt that performance to my very core. One of the most talked about performance of the night came from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis along with Madonna shared the stage to perform a duet of,”Same Love”. While they performed their song,Queen Latifah came in and announced that there were 33 couples who were getting married at the Grammys. Definitely a monumental performance – one that will be remembered for years to come.
As The Grammys always do each year, they paid their respects by remembering musicians that had passed away in 2013. Which included James Jones (country singer), Gloria Lynn (Jazz singer), Kriss Kross (rapper), Jonathan Winters (comedian), Phil Everly (The Everly Brothers). These people are only a few among the people who died this year. To honour these amazing people, Billy Joel Armstrong and Miranda Lambert sang a song by the Everly Brothers,”When will I be loved”.
There were so many amazing performances throughout the broadcast. The official winners were those that walked away with a Grammy Award in their hands. Check out the complete list below!
